SPHINX

In a world without Gods and Goddesses, celebrity has replaced divinity.

Do we create images or do images form us?

What is interesting to me about Kate Moss is that she is someone whose image has completely separated from her real self and this image has a life of its own.

Our problem is: How do we measure ourselves against the impossible infinite virtual world of perfect images?

Yoga, the gym, tattooing, are all ways in which we try to anchor ourselves into our bodies or live up to these images in reaction to the virtual disembodied lives we now currently lead.

These hollow bronze sculptures, de-materialized by white paint, are like eggshells or cinema screens to me, sites for the projection of our desire, twisted mirrors to ourselves.
